Dirna Bergstrom’s facility in Spain passes its ISO TS16949 surveillance audit

November 13, 2013

Bergstrom Inc., a global leader in the design and supply of climate systems to the commercial vehicle industry, announced today that its Madrid, Spain facility has maintained its ISO TS16949 certification by successfully passing a surveillance audit.

ISO/TS 16949:2009 is a globally recognized automotive industry standard that defines the quality management system requirements for the design and development, production and, when relevant, installation and service of automotive-related products. The standard requires annual surveillance audits and a more stringent recertification audit every three years.

Dirna Bergstrom – which was previously Dirna S.A. – produces the market leading no-idle line in Europe, including true air conditioners and evaporative coolers. It specializes in air conditioning systems for the European commercial vehicle market, for off-highway construction and agricultural machinery andfor other industrial on- and off-road vehicles. Dirna S.A. received the ISO TS16949 certification in 2012, prior to the Bergstrom acquisition.

"A commitment to quality and reliable products is absolutely essential in our industry, and we are very proud of our team in Madrid,” said Jack Shaffer, president and CEO of Bergstrom. "The surveillance audit was particularly challenging because so many of the procedures and policies have changed in the past year.”

As part of the surveillance audit the Dirna Bergstrom team had to prove that the business systems established as part of the 2012 certification were still in place and that there was improvement of the business processes.
