September 28, 2017
The Lincoln Academy of Illinois will honor Bergstrom Chairman Dave Rydell with the prestigious Order of Lincoln award.
The Order of Lincoln is Illinois’ highest honor for professional achievement and public service.
Rydell is being recognized for the positive impact he has made over the course of his tenure at Bergstrom Inc., as well as his participation on the boards of many non-profit organizations in Rockford, Ill. His continued support of local organizations that focus on health, education, the arts and those in crisis are examples of where Rydell is most involved in the community.
"This year's Order of Lincoln recipients are an extraordinary group of individuals that truly embody President Lincoln's relentless and passionate spirit for public service," Governor of Illinois Bruce Rauner said. "They have positively changed their communities in numerous ways, and their contributions will impact Illinois and the world for generations to come. It is my honor to award them the Order of Lincoln."
Rydell will receive the award alongside seven others during a formal ceremony held at the historic Coronado Theatre in Rockford on Saturday, May 5, 2018. The other recipients are Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus, YouTube co-founder Steven Chen, secretary for higher education for the Society of Jesus Father Michael J. Garanzini, performer and songwriter Emily Bear, president of Ariel Investments Mellody Hobson, president and CEO of Purina Mills Edward L. McMillan and leading diabetes researcher Louis H. Philipson, M.D., Ph.D.
