Bergstrom Inc. continues big growth in school bus business with opening of two new installation centers

January 28, 2019

Bergstrom Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of cab climate systems for commercial trucks, off-highway machines, military vehicles, specialty vehicles and niche automotive markets, opened two new installation centers to expand the company’s services in the school bus industry.

Each new center will handle the installation of HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems in school buses. One center is located at 103 Pat Joiner Blvd., Byron, Georgia, and the other center is located at 5444 S. 108 East Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma.

"We’re thrilled to open these new installation facilities,” said Forrest Fields, director of bus air conditioning. "These centrally-located centers allow us to quickly serve our customers and meet demand efficiently and expertly.”

Both the Georgia facility and the Oklahoma center are staffed with experienced a/c technicians and will have systems engineering and application support available through Bergstrom’s corporate engineering team.

These facilities will also be available to provide service and installation for other Bergstrom systems such as battery electric HVAC (NITE systems) and Bergstrom’s full line of proprietary solar panel systems.

Bergstrom began producing heaters for school buses in 1952 and has grown into the largest supplier of school bus heaters in the U.S. With the new Cool Zone™ system, Bergstrom has taken their industry expertise in commercial vehicle HVAC systems and engineered a high performance, OEM-quality air conditioning system for the school bus market.

Each school bus air conditioning system is customizable and can consist of any combination of bus HVAC systems. Factors that determine the different types of packages specified are determined by each application and include the size of the school bus, state regulations and average weather temperatures in the different regions each bus is expected to operate in.

The installation and maintenance of the new Cool Zone™ systems are simple with adjustable mounting brackets and are designed with filters that are easy to service and louvers that are fully adjustable for optimal airflow control. Cooling and heating capability in the dash unit maximize occupant comfort in both hot and cold climates.
