Bergstrom Inc. is partnering with ARBOC Specialty Vehicles to install the first-ever solar panel battery charger on a ProMaster van, which will be displayed at the CTAA Expo May 19-23 in Palm Springs, California.

"Bergstrom strives to stay on the leading edge of new applications of technologies,” said Forrest Fields, director bus AC systems for Bergstrom. "With the increased electrical loads on the buses today, the solar panel will provide added charging capabilities to maintain the onboard batteries. We are excited to partner with ARBOC on this project to be displayed at CTAA. Our line of solar energy systems provides great ROI with decreased need for fuel, reduced asset downtime and less maintenance.”

The ProMaster van will be on display in ARBOC’s booth #149 at CTAA. ARBOC provides a range of buses with a single, non-discriminatory patented accessible entranceway for riders of all abilities.

The Bergstrom team will also be available to discuss the company’s solar energy systems in booth #249 at CTAA. Bergstrom’s flexible solar panels conform to any surface and help increase power, durability and driver comfort by significantly extending the run time of electric HVAC systems. They are designed with patented grid technology, providing the industry’s most durable and reliable rooftop solar panel.

As a leading designer and manufacturer of conventional HVAC and full battery-electric cab climate systems for commercial trucks, buses, off-highway machines, military vehicles and specialty vehicles, Bergstrom has developed a complete line of solar energy systems to support ever-increasing demands on vehicle battery power.

ARBOC strives to incorporate the latest technologies into its line of vehicles, and Bergstrom’s solar energy system provides a solution to the issues that arise from batteries gradually losing their charge over time while at the same time improving overall battery health and longevity.

"At Bergstrom, we’re focused on providing HVAC systems that deliver the best combination of the latest technologies to our customers,” said Fields. "CTAA is full of industry professionals who are looking for those options that will help them increase their sustainability, and we can’t wait to share all the ways the Bergstrom systems deliver on that goal.”
